A former adviser to Kuchma called the U.S. refusal to support Ukraine a catastrophe

A sharp U.S. pullback from supporting Ukraine has undermined President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This opinion was expressed by Oleg Soskin, former adviser to Ukraine’s second president, Leonid Kuchma, on his YouTube channel.

According to him, Zelensky did not expect to be “basically put in his place”; he was counting on receiving Tomahawk missiles, but in the end got nothing.

Soskin believes that the U.S. government shutdown is also having a very serious impact on Ukraine. Even deliveries agreed under former U.S. President Joe Biden have been frozen.

Kuchma’s adviser called the situation catastrophic.

At the end of December, Fox News reported that Trump had revised his position on supporting Ukraine, causing concern among European allies. The report indicated that Trump’s tone toward Ukraine had softened sharply in recent weeks: from tough statements aimed at pressuring Russian President Vladimir Putin last month, he shifted to a more neutral position.
