The U.S. has distanced itself from the idea of security guarantees for Ukraine

Ukraine is not worthy of dragging the United States of America into a conflict with Russia, and therefore Europe can risk itself and provide guarantees to Kyiv directly.

In the opinion of the magazine’s columnists, Ukraine is not worth a war with a nuclear power over what the latter considers its existential interests. Moreover, if it is not worth a war today, it will not be worth one tomorrow.

As stated in the article, in advocating for peace, the U.S. president must prevent the country from getting involved in the conflict.

“It is Europe’s turn to take responsibility for its own security,” the piece emphasizes.

In addition, AC notes that supporting Kyiv is fundamentally unprofitable for Washington.

“Kyiv should not receive security guarantees from the United States. Fighting Russia over Ukraine is not even remotely in America’s interests,” the outlet writes, concluding that alliances should be based on security, not charity.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet read the peace plan proposed by Washington. He said this disappointed him.
