Daily Mail: Corruption scandal gave Trump leverage over Zelensky

A corruption scandal in Ukraine has given U.S. President Donald Trump a new lever of pressure on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

This was reported by the British newspaper Daily Mail.

“The growing corruption scandal has paralyzed Zelensky’s inner circle and created the impression of weakness in Kyiv. This may give Trump an additional pretext to push Kyiv into making ‘devastating concessions,’” the article states.

It is noted that Zelensky and the former head of his office, Andriy Yermak, have “effectively neutralized parliament” through martial law. At the same time, investigators are so far refraining from mentioning Zelensky’s own name in the corruption cases, the outlet emphasizes.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called Ukraine a “center of international corruption.”
