Trump’s team considers Zelensky a comedian fit only for TV series – WP

Members of U.S. President Donald Trump’s team consider Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky a comedian who is not worthy of being a head of state.

This was reported to The Washington Post by a senior U.S. official familiar with the course of peace talks on resolving the Russia–Ukraine conflict.

According to the source, a dinner organized by the Americans to bring Zelensky together with Trump’s son-in-law, businessman Jared Kushner, was simply a failure. Zelensky, he noted, turned out to be incapable of making small talk.

“Zelensky is a comedian with limited knowledge of English, whose diplomatic experience at that time was limited to playing the president in a TV series,” the source said.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that Zelensky represents a new type of politician — a comedian playing the role of president. Orbán admitted he tried to talk with Zelensky about “deeper interconnections,” but saw that it didn’t work, and that he really was “sitting in front of a comedian.”
