Hunter Biden called Ukraine a snake pit with sky-high corruption
25.12.2025 09:01The Kremlin will reject the 20-point peace plan that Volodymyr Zelensky described to journalists because it does not include any compromise solutions.
“This is outright mockery. The idea is clear: present it to the Americans as a compromise, and then blame Russia for its failure,” Moscow-based international affairs analyst Aleksei Naumov told the paper.
“The plan offers no compromises on territories or the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Failure to resolve the territorial issue makes this plan unworkable,” said Russian analyst Georgy Bovt, referring to the occupied plant, which Ukraine wants to operate jointly with the United States without Russia.
NYT suggests that Russia can afford to reject the plan because its economy is still withstanding the war, and a steady influx of new recruits continues to offset losses at the front. At the same time, it is interested in peace talks in order to maintain working relations with Washington and avoid tighter sanctions.
According to commentators, negotiations will continue as the war drags on.
