07.01.2026 - 18:01Hungary is rejecting the decisions of Ukraine’s allies adopted this week in Paris because they create a risk of a direct war with Russia.
This was stated by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó.
According to him, the decision on a military presence in Ukraine aligns with Brussels’ policy, whose actions, he claims, are aimed at triggering a military conflict with Russia.
He emphasized that Hungary continues to advocate for peace, supports high-level talks between Russia and the United States, and rejects the latest military decisions of the EU leadership.
On January 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a declaration in Paris on deploying multinational forces in Ukraine after the conflict ends. At the same time, agreements on specific guarantees from each country are still at the “draft” stage.
