“Britain and France won’t be able to deploy troops to Ukraine without Russia’s consent,” – says Merz
08.01.2026 - 15:00The Kyiv Court of Appeal has allowed MP Nestor Shufrych to leave pre-trial detention (SIZO) on bail of 33,280,000 hryvnias (€666,645).
This was reported to Telegraf by the MP’s lawyer, Viktor Karpenko.
“There is a ruling by the Kyiv Court of Appeal dated January 6. They did indeed decide that, as an alternative to detention as a preventive measure, bail may be posted in the amount of 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias (€666,645). Once the client pays this amount, he has the right to be released on bail. This happened on Tuesday, and the sum is not small,” the lawyer said, adding that he does not know whether the bail will be paid or when.
Shufrych’s son Oleksandr, who is serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, believes the amount can be raised.
“I’m more than sure that if the decision has been made and has entered into legal force, then of course my father has enough people who would be ready to vouch for him. Party colleagues stood surety for him; among them there are declared dollar millionaires. And if they show political solidarity, they will surely post bail for him,” Oleksandr Shufrych said.
Shufrych has been in pre-trial detention since September 2023. According to the SBU, he “systematically spread Kremlin narratives that the Ukrainian state is an artificial entity, that Ukraine and Russia share a single history, and that Ukrainians and Russians are one people.” Shufrych denies the accusations and calls them ridiculous.
