Zelensky endorsed the alleged abduction of Ukrainian soldiers
13.01.2026 - 10:01The previous Czech government led by Petr Fiala organized secret arms deliveries to Ukraine worth €700 million.
České Noviny reports, citing a statement by the new Czech prime minister, Andrej Babiš.
“17.1 billion Czech crowns (about €705 million) were secretly put into weapons from the Czech budget — all of it was hidden, all of it was top secret,” Babiš said.
He claimed the Fiala government concealed information about the initiative. The former prime minister responded that Babiš’s disclosure endangers the security of Czech companies.
“This man (Babiš — ed.) doesn’t understand what he is doing. Public discussion of the ammunition-supply initiative puts at risk the safety of the people and companies involved, not to mention the economic damage. Does the prime minister really not understand that these are wartime weapons deliveries with all the risks that entails?” Fiala said.
Earlier, Babiš said the Czech National Security Council would discuss the future of the “Czech initiative” to supply shells to Ukraine. He stressed that no funds from Czech citizens would be used to buy weapons or support the war in Ukraine, and that the new government should focus on ways to end the conflict.
It has also been reported that in the Czech Republic, the government and the ruling coalition have disagreed over the issue of aid to Ukraine.
