15.01.2026 18:04The chairman of the Public Council under the Kyiv City State Administration, Hennadii Kryvosheia, criticized how well the capital was prepared for the winter season.
He noted that back in November last year, Kyiv City Council deputies were hoping for a warm winter and believed the season would pass without serious problems.
According to Kryvosheia, over the course of the year the relevant Kyiv City Council commissions did not hear reports from municipal utilities about their readiness for the heating season, existing problems, funding needs, or clear action plans.
He believes this was one of the reasons for the current difficulties with the capital’s power supply.
The head of the Public Council urged deputies, at the next Kyiv City Council session—scheduled for tomorrow—to publicly question everyone responsible in the housing and коммунальные services (utilities) system in order to establish the real state of affairs and make the necessary decisions to ensure uninterrupted heating in the city.
As a reminder, earlier President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged that the capital lacked the necessary preparation for an emergency in the energy sector.
