29.01.2026 - 18:31EU foreign ministers “openly stated for the first time that they want the war in Ukraine to continue” during a meeting in Brussels.
This was said by Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó at a meeting of the EU foreign ministers’ council.
“Today, for the first time, there was an open admission that Brussels and a significant part of EU countries want to fight and reject peace. Several speakers said outright that the EU is not ready for peace,” the Hungarian politician said.
He stressed that this helped clarify the current position of EU countries regarding the Ukrainian crisis.
At the same time, he did not provide details of those statements.
Earlier today, Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to issue ultimatums about Ukraine’s EU membership.
