16.02.2026 10:45Branches of Ukraine’s national postal operator Ukrposhta are being set on fire almost every week because the company distributes draft summonses.
The company’s head Ihor Smilianskyi said.
“Nobody talks about how many of our branches are being burned and how many we repair. Almost every week our branches are set on fire because we deliver summonses,” he said.
Smilianskyi emphasized that Ukrposhta is considered part of military infrastructure and has a contract with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine to distribute summonses. He also said that 100% of the company’s draft-eligible employees are “booked” (exempted/deferred from mobilization).
It was also recalled that earlier Smilianskyi, using profanity, denied reports that the postal operator faced default.
Meanwhile, Kyiv residents recently complained about the closure of Ukrposhta branches. As noted, besides postal services, Ukrposhta branches also pay out pensions, and pensions cannot be collected at a different branch. Users reported that because of this, they have been unable to receive parcels for weeks: pensioners are served first, and there are not enough operators or opening hours left for other customers.
