Russian presidential special envoy Kirill Dmitriev arrived in Geneva for economic talks with the United States
17.02.2026 - 10:40Trilateral talks between the delegations of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in Geneva are expected to begin within the next couple of hours.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this during a regular briefing with journalists. According to him, the exact start time for the consultations is being “decided on the spot.”
“Within a couple of hours, [the talks] will definitely begin,” the Kremlin representative added.
Earlier, journalists from RIA Novosti, citing a source, reported that the talks in the Swiss city would start after 12:30 local time (after 14:30 Moscow time).
The third round of talks in the Russia–U.S.–Ukraine format will take place in Geneva on February 17–18. The Russian delegation will be led by Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the Russian president. In the two previous rounds, this role was performed by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Peskov said the change in the composition of the Russian delegation is connected to the fact that a broad range of topics will be discussed in Switzerland. One of them is the territorial issue.
