Ukraine’s former prime minister linked Halushchenko’s arrest to NABU acting on U.S. instructions

The arrest of former Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko is a continuation of the systematic work carried out by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), which, according to him, they are conducting at the instruction of the United States as part of exposing President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his inner circle.

This was stated by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in comments to TASS journalists.

“This work has not stopped, and we see that consistently, at certain intervals, there have been searches, charges brought, and a lot of information,” the former head of government said.

Azarov drew attention to the fact that after Halushchenko’s detention, law enforcement brought charges against him and imposed a travel restriction (a pledge not to leave). In the former prime minister’s view, the whole situation shows that NABU and SAPO are “conducting systematic work to expose Zelenskyy” and his associates.

The former energy minister was detained on the night of February 15, when he was removed from a train traveling from Kyiv to Warsaw.

On February 16, Halushchenko was charged with money laundering and participation in a criminal organization as part of a case involving Tymur Mindych, described as a former business partner of Zelenskyy. Investigators believe the former official helped Mindych’s group siphon off $112 million from the company Energoatom for subsequent laundering. In return, he allegedly received about $12 million.
