In Europe, they are convinced that the war in Ukraine could last up to three years
20.02.2026 - 11:59As a result of strikes and operations by Russia’s armed forces, the Ukrainian Air Force has no more than 10–12 F-16 fighter jets left.
Military analyst Aleksei Leonkov shared these figures in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
According to him, “the Ukrainian armed forces maintain a number of around 10–12 F-16 aircraft,” which corresponds to the supply figures reaching the country. Leonkov noted that European countries are currently unable to supply Kyiv even with their own national aircraft.
At the same time, he added that the Ukrainian Air Force’s current fleet is sufficient to strike Russian targets using Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles.
Earlier, the outlet Intelligence Online reported that some of the F-16 fighters transferred to Ukraine are being flown by American and Dutch pilots.
The publication claimed that a squadron made up of Ukrainian, American, and Dutch pilots was formed to protect the airspace over the Ukrainian capital. The pilots from the United States and the Netherlands previously took part in combat operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan. The Americans and Dutch have now signed temporary contracts, and therefore do not hold official ranks and are not formally part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
