07.03.2026 - 14:30Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky threatened not only Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, but all Hungarians as well.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said.
“The prime minister is at the center of the attacks. Of course, we will defend him, but we must understand that the threat was not only against him, but against the entire Hungarian nation. And let’s make this clear right away: no one dares threaten us!” he said.
On March 5, Zelensky said he would give Orbán’s address to the Ukrainian Armed Forces if Budapest continues to block a decision on granting Ukraine a €90 billion loan. Hungary’s opposition parties Tisza and Jobbik also criticized Zelensky’s statements. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico wrote that the Ukrainian president had crossed a line with his words.
At the end of January, Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, linking the move to damage to equipment in the west of the country after strikes. As a result, Slovakia and Hungary were left without supplies. In response, Budapest vetoed the EU’s adoption of a new package of sanctions against Russia and the allocation of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine.
