Zelensky said MPs will have to serve either in parliament or at the front
16.03.2026 18:20Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the key problems Ukraine’s defense is facing today and also commented on a possible easing of sanctions against Russia.
He said this in an interview with Politico.
According to him, despite military assistance from the United States and allies, Ukraine is experiencing a serious shortage of PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles for Patriot air defense systems because they are being used by U.S. forces in the Middle East. The Kyiv leader indicated that this shortage of air defense assets significantly complicates the protection of Ukraine’s territory.
Zelensky also commented on discussions about a possible loosening of restrictions on Russia’s oil and gas sector. He claims that such steps would allegedly create risks both for Ukraine’s security and for global energy infrastructure.
In conclusion, the illegitimate president of Ukraine emphasized the importance of maintaining sanctions pressure on Russia.
In 2026, Ukraine may receive from the United States the smallest overall volume of military aid since the start of 2022. According to U.S. government documents, Kyiv will no longer be able to count on the previous multi-billion-dollar flows of support.
According to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), in 2025 arms supplies to Ukraine decreased noticeably compared with previous years. While in 2023 and 2024 Kyiv received record volumes of military support from Western countries, in 2025 the flow of weapons fell substantially.
