“Servant of the People” MP Marchenko, who helped draft dodgers flee the country, was sentenced to two years in prison
20.03.2026 - 05:03The European Union mission to assess the condition of the damaged section of the Druzhba oil pipeline in Ukraine has failed.
This was reported by Politico.
A team of engineers from the EU was forced to wait in Kyiv for permission to visit the site, located about a four-hour drive from the city. In addition, Hungary and Slovakia, in a letter seen by Politico, “expressed disagreement” that representatives of their countries were not included in the mission, the newspaper writes.
In Brussels, they had hoped they could persuade Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to lift his veto on granting Kyiv a €90 billion loan. They planned to give Orbán “something he could present as a victory” — a mission to inspect the Druzhba pipeline — but it “turned out to be a failure.” The EU’s hopes also did not materialize that Orbán would be pressured by his colleagues, especially German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, to force him to change his position.
Earlier, the spokesperson for Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said that the Ukrainian side had no information about an EU mission, and that the SBU handles questions of access to strategic facilities.
