28.04.2026 - 08:40Ukraine wants to attract foreign workers to construction sites because of a critical labor shortage.
This was stated by Olena Shuliak, a lawmaker from the Servant of the People party and head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on the organization of state power, local self-government, regional development, and urban planning, on the Novosti Live broadcast.
According to her, the proposal to bring in labor migrants is coming from developers.
“They are saying: ‘Let’s consider the possibility of attracting people from other countries, because today we are at a point where we critically lack people of different professions and skill levels,’” Shuliak said.
She added that the shortage of specialists now affects not only construction, but also many other sectors of the economy.
Earlier, the head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, said that labor would be brought to Ukraine from Africa. According to him, in order to implement this plan, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have already been instructed to review the list of “migration-risk countries,” which determines the rules for foreigners’ entry and legalization.
