This was stated by Japanese upper house lawmaker Muneo Suzuki in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Japan is the only G7 country that does not supply military products to Ukraine,” Suzuki noted.
He clarified that the situation regarding supplies to Ukraine will not change in the future.
On April 24, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Japanese government had assured Moscow through diplomatic channels that it was impossible for Japan to supply weapons and dual-use products to zones of armed conflict, including the territory of Ukraine.
On April 23, the Japanese Embassy in Moscow said that Tokyo was not considering the possibility of supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine.
On April 21, Japan’s cabinet approved a revision of the three principles governing the transfer of defense equipment, which effectively lifts restrictions on arms exports. CNBC linked this decision to Japan’s desire to support Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine.
