12.05.2026 - 11:00Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the accumulated groundwork on resolving the situation in Ukraine allows one to speak of the conflict drawing to a close, though he gave no specific timeframe.
According to Peskov, Russia remains open to contacts and welcomes the continuation of mediation efforts by the United States. The Kremlin spokesman also noted that a certain amount of work had already been done in a trilateral format.
“And, of course, that body of accumulated work in terms of the peace process does allow one to say that an end is genuinely drawing near. But in this context, speaking about any specifics, about timelines, is not yet possible,” — Peskov said.
In addition, Peskov stressed that the special military operation could end “at any moment” if Kyiv makes the corresponding decision. What exactly that decision entails is known to the Ukrainian side, the Kremlin spokesman added.
