Fico: European politicians criticize him for meetings with Putin, then call to find out the details
21.05.2026 16:32The European Commission, in drawing up its spring economic forecast, proceeded from the assumption that the military conflict in Ukraine will continue at least until 2027.
This was reported by TASS, citing the document obtained.
“The central scenario assumes that geopolitical tensions in the region will persist in full,” the document states.
According to the forecast, sanctions against Russia will remain in force throughout the entire period under review — that is, in 2026–2027.
At the same time, it became known that the European Commission has begun developing a map of military aid to Ukraine. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius sent letters to allies to find out what assistance they are prepared to provide to Ukraine. According to Euractiv, at the time of publication fewer than half of the 27 EU member states had responded to the request, leaving the situation uncertain.
In addition, the European Commission had previously disclosed what the first tranche of the loan for Ukraine would be directed toward.
