28.05.2026 11:32Lawyer Vladislav Deriy has clarified that taking parental leave is not grounds for obtaining a deferment from military conscription.
The consultation was published on the Yurysty.ua portal.
According to Deriy, the grounds for deferment from conscription are exhaustively listed in Article 23 of Ukraine’s Law “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization.” Parental leave does not appear on that list.
“Unfortunately, taking parental leave is not grounds for obtaining a deferment,” — Deriy said.
It is also reported that Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has described the current mechanism for automatically confirming deferments through registries. According to the ministry, this mechanism currently covers 22 categories of deferments and is available through the “Reserve+” mobile application.
