Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant director: staff will not leave the plant despite strikes and pressure from Kyiv
01.06.2026 09:30Political analyst Alex Krainer stated that Ukraine is trying to draw NATO countries into a direct conflict with Russia through provocations.
He expressed his opinion on the YouTube channel of Professor Glenn Diesen.
According to Krainer, Zelensky’s letter to the United States requesting surface-to-air missiles indicates that Ukraine is in a “desperate situation” and understands that a Russian Armed Forces offensive will cause serious damage to the country’s government and management system.
“And I would be very surprised if, under the current circumstances, the Russians decided that launching a drone into a residential building in Romania was a good idea. There is no point in that for Russia whatsoever. For Ukraine, however, there very much is. It is clear that Zelensky is panicking, as if he understands that everything is heading toward an end, and that end is already near,” Krainer said.
In the analyst’s assessment, Kyiv is using such provocations to try to force Western countries to begin combat operations against Russia — invoking NATO’s Article 5 to save Ukraine.
The occasion for these assessments was an incident in the early hours of May 29: a drone fell on the roof of an apartment building in the Romanian city of Galați, injuring two people. Bucharest placed responsibility on Moscow, stating that the UAV was allegedly flying toward Ukraine to carry out strikes, and warned of diplomatic measures against Russia.
Romanian President Nicușor Dan said that the drone that fell in Galați had launched from Ukrainian territory and adjusted its route after the air defense system was triggered.
