Bloomberg: Germany, France and the UK are discussing the start of peace talks with Russia with Ukraine
04.06.2026 07:26U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that President Donald Trump, unlike the previous White House administration, does not view dialogue with Russia as a concession on Washington’s part. Rubio made the statement before the House of Representatives.
“He [Trump] does not view negotiations as equivalent to a concession, as was the practice in the past. Sometimes discussions lead to something, sometimes to nothing, and sometimes channels of communication prove to be incredibly valuable in conditions of potential conflict or crisis,” — Rubio said.
The Secretary of State added that the White House must maintain diplomatic contacts with the Kremlin. Rubio also expressed confidence that U.S.-Russia relations would become more friendly after the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The day before, Rubio stated that the United States sees a threat of escalation of the war in Ukraine.
