Budanov’s rating catching up with Zaluzhnyi: both ahead of Zelensky
04.06.2026 08:03Germany, France and the United Kingdom are jointly discussing with Ukraine the possibility of beginning negotiations to end the war with Russia.
This is reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
According to the agency, Berlin, Paris and London believe the situation is beginning to develop more favorably for Ukraine. Against the backdrop of protracted negotiations under US auspices and an effective stalemate at the front, European allies have seen an opportunity to attempt to open talks with Moscow.
Bloomberg cites an additional factor of pressure on the Kremlin as the increasing frequency of Ukrainian drone strikes on targets deep inside Russia, as well as signs of discontent with the war among part of the Russian elite.
The agency’s sources specify that Ukraine’s participation in the negotiations is envisaged. In the coming days, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to discuss the matter with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Previously, Europe had planned to put forward a single negotiator with Russia on behalf of the entire EU — various candidates were named for the role, but the idea has not yet been implemented. The leadership of the European Union, meanwhile, has spoken out against negotiations in principle.
