09.06.2026 12:02Ukrainian border guards have found the body of an unidentified man in a remote mountainous area near the Ukrainian-Romanian section of the state border.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU).
The body was discovered on the evening of June 8 by a patrol unit of the SBGSU’s “Delovoe” department of the Mukachevo border detachment during a routine patrol. The deceased was found approximately 3.5 kilometers from the state border.
Border guards called in State Emergency Service personnel and police to the scene. Law enforcement officers are currently working to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances of his death.
Following the incident, the SBGSU issued an official warning:
“We urge citizens not to put themselves in danger and to refrain from traveling independently in hard-to-reach border areas. Mountainous terrain, especially in adverse weather conditions, can pose a threat to life and health. We remind you that crossing the state border outside designated checkpoints is a violation of the law. Attempts to illegally cross the border through mountainous terrain not only entail legal liability but can also have tragic consequences.”
