10.06.2026 10:34European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has promised to provide Ukraine with €9 billion by the end of June.
This was stated on the European Commission’s website.
“We have transferred almost three billion euros to Ukraine from the Ukraine fund. And this month we will disburse the first tranche under our €90 billion loan to Ukraine. So by the end of the month we will provide Ukraine with €6 billion for drones and more than €3 billion in macro-financial assistance. And, of course, further tranches will follow soon,” von der Leyen said.
In addition to the financial commitments, von der Leyen announced that the first cluster on the path to Ukraine’s and Moldova’s accession to the European Union will be opened in the near future, marking the start of official accession negotiations for both countries.
On June 8, European Commission spokesperson Balázs Ujvári clarified that the EU intends to transfer €9.1 billion to Ukraine in June under the new loan mechanism.
In early June, Politico reported that NATO member states are discussing an initiative to allocate €70 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine for military expenditures. Of that total, €40 billion represents new commitments, while €30 billion is part of the European Union’s €90 billion loan.
In late May, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada ratified an agreement with the EU on a loan of €90 billion. Half of the amount is planned to be received by Kyiv in 2026. €28.3 billion will go toward the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and €16.7 billion toward macro-financial stabilization and covering the state budget deficit.
