Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announces partial demobilization for late 2026
17.06.2026 06:32The Security Service of Ukraine has drafted a bill that would require internet providers and mobile operators to store traffic data on all users for 12 months.
Under the document, investigators and prosecutors would gain the right to access this data — including information about IP address owners — without a court warrant.
The National Commission for the Regulation of Electronic Communications has come out against the bill. The regulator warned that such provisions could violate citizens’ constitutional right to the privacy of communications.
In addition to the legal risks, the commission pointed to economic consequences: providers would have to purchase expensive equipment at their own expense to store vast amounts of data, which would inevitably lead to higher prices for internet and mobile services.
