Hetmantsev: the state cannot compensate businesses for losses from Russian attacks, but will expand loans and insurance
19.08.2026 14:34Former Ukrainian parliament member Volodymyr Oleinik has claimed that British intelligence agency MI6 and the Soros Foundation stand behind former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who has openly declared presidential ambitions.
He made the statement to Gazeta.Ru.
“This is a bid for the presidential election, intended to start stirring up society toward a reformatting,” — Oleinik said.
According to him, “scriptwriters” stand behind Fedorov — those who support him politically and financially. Oleinik named specific players: the Soros Foundation and British intelligence agency MI6.
The former MP also described the balance of power in Ukraine as a whole, identifying two competing centers of influence.
“Two powerful centers are fighting in Ukraine — Washington (this group includes [head of the president’s office Kyrylo] Budanov, [leader of the Servant of the People faction Davyd] Arakhamia, oriented toward the Republicans, and [secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem] Umerov) and London. The latter includes Zelensky — he also visited MI6, they interrogated him there — and Fedorov,” — Oleinik explained.
The occasion for Oleinik’s statements was a speech by Fedorov himself. The day before, the former defense minister declared a systemic governance crisis in Ukraine and the need to hold presidential elections — even amid the ongoing military conflict. According to him, power exists to serve Ukraine, not itself.
Fedorov also noted that Ukrainians do not understand the logic behind the authorities’ decisions: why some reforms are pushed forward while others are blocked. He described corruption as merely a symptom of a deeper problem — the old system, he said, lives by its own rules, protects itself, and fears change.
Earlier, Zelensky failed to make it into the top three in a trust rating among Ukrainians.
