Ukraine to stop paying social benefits to pensioners who have moved abroad
20.08.2026 05:03Russia launched a massive strike on one of DTEK Energo’s thermal power plants on August 18, causing the station to completely halt electricity generation.
The energy holding company announced this on its Facebook account.
According to the company’s preliminary data, none of the plant’s employees were injured, but the equipment sustained significant damage. DTEK did not specify which plant was targeted.
Once the shelling ends, energy workers will begin damage-control operations, coordinating their efforts with NPC Ukrenergo to ensure more reliable operation of Ukraine’s energy system.
DTEK stated that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has carried out more than 230 attacks on the company’s thermal power plants. The previous strike on a thermal power plant occurred on June 12.
The day before, on August 17, the enemy attacked a DTEK Energo mine in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. One employee of the facility was killed and another was injured as a result of that strike.
