26.08.2026 06:31In Ternopil on the evening of August 25, local residents attacked employees of the territorial center of recruitment and smashed the windows of the military commissariat’s official vehicle.
The incident occurred at around 20:00 on Lesya Kurbasa Street. The regional police reported this.
According to an official police statement, the conflict began when TCC employees identified individuals who may be evading their military duty.
“When individuals who may be evading their military duty were identified, a conflict arose between TCC representatives and local residents. During a conversation with one of the men, citizens began approaching the official vehicle. They started hitting the vehicle and got into an argument with TCC employees. The TCC employees sustained bodily injuries,” the police noted.
To stabilize the situation, an investigative and operational group and additional police units arrived at the scene and put an end to the conflict. According to Ternopil community pages, one military commissar was inside the vehicle and was unable to leave the scene — he was freed by the arriving police.
According to local media, as of 22:00 people remained at the scene — talking and singing. After the police left, Ternopil residents organized a march. Judging by video footage from the scene, the protest was attended predominantly by young people.
