31.08.2026 11:01By the end of August, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, and Germany had updated their official guidance for their citizens, advising against travel to Ukraine.
This is indicated by data from the foreign ministry websites of those countries.
The British Foreign Office considers the entire territory of Ukraine dangerous, with the exception of Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Lviv oblasts, and Chernivtsi. The ministry also warns that travel insurance is voided for those who travel to dangerous areas against official advice.
“Russian attacks on the energy grid may result in unplanned power outages or emergency blackouts without prior notice. Some areas may require scheduled power cuts. Power outages may also affect central heating and water supplies. Be aware that temperatures can drop below -20°C in the depths of winter,” the British Foreign Office warning states.
Italy’s Foreign Ministry points to the increased threat of Russian air strikes, which are being carried out across the entire country. Italian citizens are “strongly advised against traveling to Ukraine for any reason.”
The Netherlands has classified the entire territory of Ukraine as a red danger zone. The wording on the country’s foreign ministry website leaves no ambiguity:
“Do not go there under any circumstances. It is too dangerous. The Dutch Embassy will not be able to help you if you get into trouble. Are you in Ukraine? Leave the country if it is safe to do so.”
Germany’s Foreign Ministry updated its guidance on the eve of Ukrainian Independence Day, warning of a possible intensification of Russian air strikes. Travel to the country remains inadvisable.
