Drug shortage in Kyiv: L-Thyroxine disappears from pharmacies after strikes on warehouses

A number of imported medications have been reported missing from pharmacies in Kyiv.

This is being reported by local Telegram channels.

In particular, L-Thyroxine — the primary drug used to treat chronic hypothyroidism — has disappeared from sale.

The municipal pharmacy chain “Farmatsiya” attributes the shortage to logistics disruptions following damage to warehouses and states that it “is working to restore supplies.”

Earlier, the Pharmaceutical Professional Association of Ukraine reported that Russian strikes on warehouses in several regions of the country had caused increased demand for certain groups of medications, as a result of which their stocks in pharmacies are dwindling. According to the association’s assessment, existing supplies may last only two to three weeks.

Economist Alexei Kushch warned that specific medications and consumer goods could disappear from sale for an extended period and recommended stocking up on them in advance.
