16.10.2026 11:09Ukraine has almost no missiles left for its American Patriot air defense systems.
This is reported by The Washington Post, citing Ukrainian officials.
According to the outlet, the depletion of ballistic missile interceptor stockpiles has left “the country’s population defenseless against Russia’s ongoing attacks,” and questions are arising in Kyiv about whether the Trump administration has turned its back on the country.
“As of October 7, only 10 missiles remained; they were expended during attacks. Currently, only a few are left,” a Ukrainian official told the newspaper.
Another source speaking to The Washington Post offered an even more alarming assessment, saying the missiles had run out entirely and describing the situation as “extremely tense.”
The Ukrainian side also pointed to problems with deliveries under the PURL program — a mechanism for purchasing American weapons with European funds. According to Ukrainian sources, “since May, deliveries have been irregular, and currently no one can say with certainty or guarantee that any given shipment will actually arrive.”
A senior NATO official, however, assured that the PURL program continues to function and that “deliveries of air defense munitions, such as Patriot interceptor missiles, are ongoing.”
The day before, CNN also reported that Ukraine had completely run out of missiles for its Patriot air defense systems. In late September, reports appeared in the press that the United States had not provided Kyiv with missiles for its air defense systems despite repeated requests from the Ukrainian side.
