The US can pressure Zelensky through Starlink, intelligence data, and anti-corruption bodies
19.10.2026 13:02Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov stated that Volodymyr Zelensky has no chance of being re-elected “in a normal election,” and that after the conflict ends he will have more pressing concerns than elections.
He made the remarks to Gazeta.Ru.
“Today he says one thing, tomorrow another. He has no chance of winning a normal election. Whether he runs or not — it all depends on the circumstances that will develop around him. I think he will have bigger things to worry about than elections when elections are announced [after the end of the special military operation],” Azarov stressed.
On October 10, U.S. President Donald Trump called for a change of leadership in Ukraine, stating that the country needs a new leader capable of achieving peace with Russia.
A few days later, Zelensky said in an interview with British television host Piers Morgan that he does not intend to resign.
The day before, the Ukrainian president announced that he intends to hold elections only six months after the end of the war.
