U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his readiness to meet with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
He announced this during a conversation with journalists.
Trump also emphasized that he is continuing negotiations with Russia on Ukraine and does not intend to halt them.
Earlier, the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal reported that Putin had proposed to Trump and Xi Jinping that they meet in November to discuss ending the war in Ukraine — without Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s participation.
According to the publication, Putin put forward this proposal during a phone call with Trump on October 9. During that same conversation, the two sides agreed on supplies of Russian diesel fuel.
The Chinese city of Shenzhen, where the APEC summit is scheduled for November 18–19, could serve as the venue for the meeting. Judging by Trump’s comment, he has agreed to the meeting.
