Hegseth delays transfer to Ukraine of large batch of Patriot missiles
20.10.2026 09:31RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev has said that Vladimir Zelensky, by constantly evading peace negotiations, is thereby distancing himself from the United States.
He expressed his view in a post on X.
“Zelensky’s constant distancing from peace is leading to ‘constant distancing from America,'” Dmitriev wrote.
According to The Wall Street Journal, relations between U.S. President Donald Trump and Zelensky began to deteriorate after their meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September. At that time, the American leader demanded that Zelensky explain the strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to the WSJ, in the time since that meeting, Washington has asked Kyiv six times to stop such strikes, and Trump’s attitude toward Zelensky has grown increasingly negative.
On October 10, against the backdrop of Zelensky’s criticism of the Moscow-Washington agreement on Russian diesel supplies, Trump declared that elections in Ukraine were necessary. The American president also expressed his conviction that Zelensky could have ended the conflict with Russia many times over but has chosen not to. Zelensky, for his part, refused to hold elections and noted that Kyiv risks losing an important partner in Washington.
In The Wall Street Journal’s assessment, the American leader’s remarks indicate that relations with Zelensky have deteriorated to their lowest point since the winter of 2025.
