29.10.2026 09:32The amount of utility debts at which Ukrainians can have their only home taken away has been raised to 430,000 hryvnias.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Andriy Haichenko on a telethon broadcast.
Previously this amount was about 170,000 hryvnias, but it was increased taking into account the economic situation in the country, he noted.
“For your only home to be taken away, you have to try very hard, accumulating such utility debts,” Haichenko said.
According to him, there are probably only a few people in Ukraine with such large utility debts.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that simplifies the seizure of property for debts. Already at the stage of registering the draft law, experts sharply criticized it, stating that it would allow property to be taken away from Ukrainians on a mass scale. How this law will work was examined in a separate article.
Meanwhile, the number of utility debts in Ukraine is growing rapidly. According to the Opendatabot portal, the largest number of debtors is in Kharkiv region. Most often this year Ukrainians failed to pay for heat supply.
