Police of the Kyiv region exposed a bank employee who appropriated half a million hryvnias (€10,400) from the accounts of deceased clients.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv region police on Facebook.
Law enforcement officers established that during 2020–2021, a premium banking employee, using her work computer, logged into the accounts of clients of the financial institution who were already deceased and changed the phone numbers linked to their accounts to those controlled by her. After this, she initiated transfers of funds to her own accounts and bank cards.
At present, the police have documented six such episodes. The total amount of damage is about 500,000 hryvnias (€10,400).
The woman has already been informed of suspicion under a number of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For what she has done, she faces up to five years of imprisonment.
Earlier, we reported that officials of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine appropriated more than ten million hryvnias allocated for the purchase of server equipment for a digitalization project.
