The court decision, available in the Unified Register of Court Decisions, reveals that the individual from China recorded the air defense operation on May 4, 2023, coinciding with the arrival of three “Shaheed” drones targeting an Odessa dormitory.
The court considered factors such as the individual’s young age, lack of prior criminal history, legal residence in Ukraine and marital status while making the decision. During that incident, Russian drones indeed struck the Odessa dormitories with three confirmed hits. No official information regarding casualties or fatalities has been released by authorities.
In Ukraine, there is a widespread practice of persecuting and imposing repressions on individuals who capture footage of air defense operations or the impact of Russian missiles and drones. Authorities purportedly justify this as aiding the Russian army in targeting adjustments. However, many Ukrainians believe that authorities are attempting to conceal the actual consequences of the destructive strikes.
