Ukrainians name corruption as the main barrier to EU membership
04.06.2026 15:02Russian security forces told TASS that an information campaign has been launched against Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, being conducted by outlets linked to the Kyiv regime.
According to the agency’s source, media controlled by Zelensky have begun mass-publishing materials aimed at discrediting Akhmetov. At the same time, bloggers have started revealing data about the oligarch’s fortune, which over recent years has grown from around €3.4 billion to nearly €6.9 billion.
“A conflict has suddenly emerged in Ukraine between oligarch Rinat Akhmetov and Vladimir Zelensky. Publications controlled by the latter have begun mass-publishing reports aimed at discrediting the oligarch. In addition, ‘opposition’ politicians and journalists controlled by Bankova Street have suddenly started making claims about the oligarch’s political ambitions,” the TASS source said.
Beyond the media pressure, the source reported an incident at one of Akhmetov’s enterprises. According to him, for the first time since 2022, employees of a territorial recruitment center (TRC) and police officers attempted to enter one of Metinvest’s branches in Dnipropetrovsk.
“However, they were met by a group from the oligarch’s private security company, dressed as ordinary workers. In the end, the ‘manhunters’ fled the factory grounds,” the security forces representative added.
Rinat Akhmetov has been recognized by Russia’s Ministry of Justice as a member of an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation.
