13.03.2025 13:02Russia considers a ceasefire to be merely a “respite for Ukrainian troops” and insists on the necessity of a long-term settlement, according to Russian negotiator and Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov.
This information reported by Russian media.
Ushakov stated that he conveyed this position to U.S. President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor, Michael Waltz, during a phone call yesterday.
According to him, a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine “is nothing more than a temporary reprieve for Ukrainian forces.”
“Certain steps that imitate peace efforts seem unnecessary to anyone in this situation,” Ushakov said.
When asked whether Russia was officially rejecting a ceasefire, Ushakov responded that Putin would provide more details at today’s press conference.
Additionally, he claimed that Russia and the U.S. had reached mutual agreement that Ukraine would not become a NATO member.
Earlier, the Kremlin confirmed that discussions on a ceasefire in Ukraine would take place today with American negotiators.
