A man has been sentenced to three years in prison for refusing military mobilization

The Dubno District Court in the Rivne region issued this verdict. The court deemed the man fit for military service.

In May 2023, he received a draft notice but strongly opposed mobilization. During the trial, he explained his refusal to serve in the army was due to his ailing mother. He expressed his readiness to serve a prison term instead of joining the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Despite being a participant in combat, previously convicted for unauthorized absence, having completed probation and not serving since 2016, he persists in declining military service. He requested the minimum penalty,” according to court documents.”
