A man on a moped, stopped for a document check, shot and killed a police officer near Odesa

In Odesa Oblast, the driver of a two-wheeled vehicle killed a Ukrainian National Police officer during a document check.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the report, yesterday around 18:00 on the outskirts of Izmail, patrol police stopped a 45-year-old moped driver to check his documents. After that, the man pulled out a firearm and began shooting at the officers.

“As a result, one of the law enforcement officers was wounded. In response, the police officer used his service weapon and injured the attacker. Both were hospitalized. Unfortunately, the senior police lieutenant died in the hospital. The perpetrator, with gunshot wounds, remains in the hospital,” the National Police wrote.

Earlier, in Odesa, a female police inspector was assaulted during a Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC) raid.
