A meeting between Zelensky and Putin may take place in Hungary – Reuters

A meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin could take place in Hungary.

Reuters reported, citing a senior U.S. administration official.

According to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the meeting should be held within the next two weeks.

A European source told Reuters that during his talks with European leaders, Trump said Putin himself had proposed first meeting separately with Zelensky and then holding a trilateral meeting with Trump. Zelensky had earlier said the same.

So far, the Kremlin has not publicly confirmed readiness for a meeting with the Ukrainian president, but Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov did say that Putin and Trump discussed the “possibility of raising the level of representatives from Moscow and Kyiv” in negotiations.

French President Emmanuel Macron named Geneva as a possible location for such a meeting.

“It will be a neutral country, and that is what we want. Therefore, Switzerland is possible. I support Geneva,” he said in an interview with TF1 television.

Yesterday, Sky News reported that the Americans had asked Europeans to be prepared to host the meeting at the end of this week.

According to the outlet, Putin is ready to meet in Geneva, as proposed by Macron. Zelensky and Trump prefer the Vatican, while Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has suggested Rome.

It should be recalled that Trump announced he had begun preparing a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. Following that, a trilateral meeting with Trump’s participation is to be organized.
