A new round of trilateral talks on Ukraine may take place on February 26–27.
Kyrylo Budanov said this.
“We’re moving slowly, but we’re moving. You’ll only see the final result,” he said.
Budanov also announced a new prisoner exchange, stressing that it would be larger in scale than the previous one.
He confirmed that, in the negotiations on settling the conflict, Russia is demanding that Ukraine cede the Donbas. According to Budanov, the issue of territories is more important for Russia than holding presidential elections in Ukraine.
On February 17–18, trilateral consultations involving Russian, U.S., and Ukrainian delegations took place in Geneva, Switzerland. The Moscow negotiating team was led by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who described the meetings as “difficult, but businesslike.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the sides had “almost agreed” on a mechanism to monitor a ceasefire.
