“A real breakthrough in peace talks on Ukraine should happen soon” – Rubio

A “real breakthrough” in peace negotiations on Ukraine must happen soon, otherwise the U.S. will have to decide how much longer to dedicate to the issue.

This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a broadcast on Fox News.

“I think we know where Ukraine stands right now, and we know where Russia stands. They are closer, but still far apart. And a real breakthrough must happen very soon, otherwise President (Trump) will have to decide how much more time we should dedicate to this,” he said.

The day before, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Ukraine and Russia must come to an agreement on ending the war themselves.

A State Department representative also said that the U.S. no longer intends to play the role of mediator, and that the time has come for direct negotiations.

As a reminder, Kyiv is ready to negotiate with Moscow “in any format,” but only after a ceasefire.
