A senior Pentagon official organized dog fights for more than 20 years and executed dogs that did not die during the fights

The Washington Post writes, citing court records. According to the investigation, Deputy Chief of Information of the US Department of Defense Frederick Morefield Jr. “regularly trained dogs for fighting, bet thousands of dollars on the outcomes and executed dogs that did not die during fights.”

During searches of his house, he and his friend-co-organizer found metal chains, weighted collars, a device for forced insemination of dogs, blood stains, as well as a dozen pit bulls, which were allegedly being prepared for fights.

The Pentagon confirmed that Morefield was no longer at work but did not specify whether he had been fired or suspended.

He was arrested but released after charges were filed.
