A tarot reader “predicted” the partition of Ukraine, sparking a wave of criticism and outrage

Ukrainian tarot reader Yulia Levchenko “predicted” using her cards that Ukraine would be “divided” into parts — with Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions going to Russia.

She made this claim in an interview with popular blogger Tatyana Koryak, better known to her audience as Koryachka.

According to Levchenko, the tarot card “King of Pentacles” signifies that such a division would benefit everyone materially.

“Let’s see now whether Ukraine will be divided. Divided — absolutely. The card says everyone stands to gain financially. Odesa region, Kharkiv region — including the city of Kharkiv — and Mykolaiv will become part of Russia,” the tarot reader said.

The “prophecy” sparked a wave of criticism against both the blogger and the tarot reader on social media. Users commented that spreading such “predictions” publicly is extremely inappropriate, while some even called for a criminal case to be opened against Levchenko.

Koryachka responded to the backlash with a sarcastic Instagram story, in which she used tarot cards to “predict” whether she would be prosecuted for the interview — and then held up a paper drawing of a middle finger as her “answer.”

Earlier, it was reported that according to a KIIS (Kyiv International Institute of Sociology) survey, almost half of Ukrainians (43%) believe in astrology, psychic powers, or tarot, while 56% do not believe in such phenomena.
