A Ukrainian soldier deemed NATO’s tactics against Russia as ineffective – The Times

NATO forces have nothing tactically to counter Russian troops.

This was stated by the chief of staff of the 32nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mikhail Lysenko, in a conversation with The Times.

Lysenko emphasized that none of the tactics studied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces at NATO bases have proven effective against massed Russian forces. Therefore, he criticized the alliance’s strategies in Ukraine.

“The main principle we were taught is to call in artillery, mortars, and aircraft to destroy the enemy. You have to spot the enemy before they spot you. Here [in the combat zone], that’s impossible,” the soldier noted.

Earlier, the commander of the 32nd Ukrainian Brigade in the Armed Forces, Dmitry Berlym, compared the conflict in Ukraine to World War I.

“It’s trench warfare. Everyone digs in. Like in World War I,” he observed.
